Archive for February, 2010
I am out of here on Monday morning, gone for a week on business with a little pleasure thrown in there, such as a bike ride on Tuesday and a vendor party at Miramar, which should be pretty cool.
Possibility of trying to see e fresh for the hookup, but no promises.
I have Obama Thursday in the can, but not much else. Later.
Bodog has up the futures for the next Super Bowl and the College National Championship.
Some highlights (or lowlights, depending on your take):
Bears at 30-1, Chickens at 50-1. Pack at 12-1, along with the Queens.
The Beloved at 100-1. I think that is really low, the real odds have got to be more like 10k-1. But I don’t think a sportsbook would ever offer real odds on futures, especially for college.
Northwestern at 125-1. Huh? The worst odds on the board for a team that almost beat Auburn in a great bowl game? I don’t get it.
Huskieys at 50-1. Big things expected out of the Sark, apparently. ND at 70-1.
USC at 12-1, Kiffin is going to stink up that place and I can’t wait. Wisco at 40-1.
Florida at 16-1, even though they will be much less holy this year with the exit of GOS.
Oddly, a lot of teams aren’t even on the board – Tulane, AFA, Vandy, and many, many others are absent. You can get a “field” bet at 20-1 though. COME ON, that is ridiculous. The field should be at least 500-1.
Well, great game yesterday. Both quarterbacks were so great – you should check out their numbers. Sure Manning had the pick six but so it goes. He is still the best qb around, gotta tip my hat. The NO kicker isn’t getting enough credit today – he kept them right in it. Too bad that asswipe Shockey got a TD though.
And what about my boy Pierre Thomas from Illinois? He was awesome yesterday and did me proud, after I suffered through a year of horrible football from my favorite teams.
So that puts a cap on our football season for the year. Hats off to everyone for good participation. Also, if you haven’t paid your bets off, please do so – we need to keep the integrity of our little circle of friends.
And with that this space will be occasionally updated. Due to popular demand, we will have Obama Thursday, and I will put up a piece or two if something interesting comes up in the football world. Outside of that, probably nothing major until the draft.
Pitchers and catchers report pretty soon, and March Madness is right around the corner. In July, of course, we have Team RadioShack taking on the EuroFucks in the Tour de France.
So thanks again for a great year, and see you guys on the flip.
